Phoenix OS based on Android x86 5.1

In our previous guide of Android-x86, we shown you how you can install Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow on External Hard Disk Drive and create a portable Android OS disk drive. You can use this disk to boot your Android OS using any PC. This way you can test different PC’s or Laptops and check if all features are working or not, like Bluetooth, WLAN etc for each PC. Problem with Android-x86 is that we need to install Grub Bootloader which replaces the Windows boot file. Now this becomes a mess when you want to uninstall Android OS from your PC as Grub bootloader will be deleted and your PC will not be able to boot normal Windows. For those who wants to restore and recover Windows after Android-x86 Marshmallow installation, we have created a HowTo guide, How to Uninstall Android x86 from PC or Laptops.Android 6.0 Marshmallow running on Windows PC

But now there are different ways to install Android OS on your PC and now there are 4 different Android OS based operating system,

  • Android-x86 (Very first & all other OS are based on this, Android 6.0.1 is the latest release)
  • Remix OS (Based on Android x86 Lollipop OS)
  • Phoenix OS (Based on Android x86 Lollipop OS)
  • Console OS (Based on Android x86 OS)

We have already covered the installation of Remix OS on Windows or Linux PC. The Remix OS installation is very straight forward and simple. So today in this HowTo guide we will be showing you the installation of Phoenix OS which is again based on Android 5.1 lollipop version. Phoenix OS is very similar to the Jide’s Remix OS but comes with more advance and additional features. Currently, Phoenix OS is available for x86 and few ARM devices (Nexus 7, Nexus 9 and Nexus 10) but you can install Phoenix OS on any x86 or x64  PC or laptop. Yes, x64 also, as i have tested it on my laptop which is a 64-bit system and Phoenix OS runs very smoothly. It can only be installed on a Windows PC.Phoenix OS based on Android x86 5.1

Best thing about Phoenix OS is that it offers one-click installation and un-installation of Phoenix Android OS. So yo don’t need to download any ISO and program file and then write into USB disk for installation. You just need to download Phoenix OS.exe program file and it will take care of everything. It doesn’t install Grub bootloader or replaces Windows boot Sector but makes an entry into it. See Screenshot,Select OS from the List

Warning & Disclaimer:

  • It is recommended to use Intel Atom CPU devices for best compatibility.
  • When installing to a USB key use a high-performance one with more than 4G capacity. Lower-speed USB key will slow down the system.
  • While the installation to the hard disk will not touch the existing data, it is always best to make a full backup beforehand.
